How To Configure Socks Proxy Server On Web Browsers Such As Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera

This article will tell you how to configure and use the Socks proxy server in a web browser such as Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera, etc.

1. How To Configure, Use Socks Proxy Server On Firefox.

  1. Open the Firefox Settings page, search the keyword proxy in the search box, and click the Settings… button in the Network Settings section.
  2. In the Connection Settings pop-up dialog, select the Manual proxy configuration radio button.
  3. Input the socks proxy server IP address ( for example 127.0.0.1 ) in the SOCKS Host text box.
  4. Input the socks proxy server port number in the Port text box.
  5. Select the SOCKS v5 radio button below the above SOCKS Host text box.
  6. Scroll down the page, and select the checkbox Proxy DNS when using SOCKS v5.
  7. If you want to browse some domains that do not use the socks proxy server, you can input them in the No proxy for text area.
  8. Click the OK button to save the settings.
  9. Now, your Firefox web browser will browse the website through the socks 5 proxy server that you configured.

2. How To Configure, Use Socks Proxy Server On Google Chrome.

  1. Open the Google Chrome web browser and open the Settings page.
  2. Search the keyword proxy in the top search box.
  3. Click the Open your computer’s proxy settings item.

2.1 Configure Socks 5 Proxy Server On macOS.

  1. If you use macOS, it will open the Network window.
  2. You can also click the System Preferences —> Network —> Advanced… button to open the Network window.
  3. Click the Proxies tab on the window top area.
  4. Check the SOCKS Proxy checkbox on the window left side Select a protocol to configure.
  5. Input SOCKS Proxy Server IP and port number on the right side.
  6. You can input the domains that do not use the SOCKS proxy server in the text box Bypass proxy settings for these Hosts & Domains.
  7. Click the OK —> Apply button to save the changes.

3. How To Configure, Use Socks Proxy Server On Google Opera.

  1. Open Opera web browser, click the Easy setup icon on the top right corner.
  2. Click the Go to full browser settings item on the Easy setup popup item list bottom area to open the Settings page.
  3. Search the keyword System in the top search box.
  4. Click the Open your computer’s proxy settings item.
